{wanderlust} Paris in the Fall

{dream home} coffee table scapes

You all know by now I've been planning and dreaming about decorating my condo once I return to the US.  I've been posting about it a lot lately!  Some of my ideas have been a little questionable, I admit.  My latest obsession over the weekend was coffee tables.  For now, I'm leaning towards an all white living room weaved with metallic and shimmer and a few well-placed objects of color.  Sometimes I think I want a white coffee table and then I quickly change my mind and think maybe metal, or a lucite trunk, or a tufted ottoman?!

These are some of my favorite looks:

{orange power} how football inspires my style

It's no secret that this is my absolute favorite time of year.  I've been talking about it a lot lately!  Growing up in the South, Fall meant one thing:  football season...tailgates, cheering at the games, and after parties.  Football is king in the South.

For my undergrad studies, I went to Oklahoma State University (did you see our incredible win over Texas A&M this weekend?! Go Cowboys!)  Our team colors are black and orange, so I'm constantly on the lookout for classic & sophisticated ways to incorporate these traditionally Halloween themed colors into my clothing and home design.  Over the years I've seen more and more glamorous pieces in this combination of beautifully rich orange and chic black.  I was born & bred a Cowboy so orange has always and will always be my favorite color.  Lucky for me, Pinterest has plenty of inspiration!

{lookbook} leopard maxi

Happy Monday darling hearts!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Mine was lovely.
On Saturday the weather was cool & breezy, and I had a delicious brunch
at a cute little cafe called Spoons at the top of the mountain.
If you're following me on Instagram you saw some snippets.

I really loved my outfit so I thought it would be fun to share some photos.
My favorite piece is obviously this maxi skirt from Zara!
The leopard speaks for itself & it's made from an amazingly soft cotton.
The best part is that it can also be worn as a strapless dress!

So here we go, it's my second outfit of the day post!
I think/hope I'm getting better at this...

Versace + H&M {coming soon!}

You know this is important if I'm interrupting Saturday morning brunch...

Versace is collaborating with H&M!

Did you guys know about this already?!
 {It's likely because you live in America and I don't, but just humor me...}
Last night while my girlfriends were consumed by a True Blood marathon,
I was cruising around the Internet and I found this hidden little gem!

Here's what I know:

It hits stores
17 November

The womenswear collection will be dominated by dresses featuring studded leather, silk and colorful print, with accessories including high heels and costume jewellery. The men's collection will focus on sharp tailoring, including 'the perfect tuxedo', as well as belts and jewellery, while for the first time in a designer collaboration at H&M, the collection will include some homeware pieces, including cushions and a bedspread.

Here's a sneak peek:

{fashion files} I forgot how to wear jeans

I work a lot.  And the social functions I do attend, they happen right after work.  So naturally I wear my business attire out and about.  All the time.  Now I must say...I have pretty cute work clothes, but still I'm always 'dressed up.'

I'm moving back to the US at the beginning of the year and I'll be away from the traditional corporate environment for a little while.  Super exciting but, I kinda forgot how to put together casual outfits!  Especially ones that are still stylish.  Leggings, Uggs, and a sweater...that I can do any day.  But fall/winter appropriate, casual outfits designed around a fantastic pair of jeans...I seriously think I forgot!  Thankfully Pinterest is full of inspirational ideas to help me out!

{dream home} salle de bains

The bathroom is the one space in my condo that I remodeled before I left Chicago.  It's actually quite beautiful already, but since I'm on a roll dreaming about my new digs, please may I just style a bathroom makeover, too? Merci beau coup.

{stylish spaces} olivia palermo + {currently coveting} hermes tray

Today's a two-for-one because ya'll are so good to me!

I love Olivia Palermo.  Love.  Well, I love her style.  Honestly I don't know much about her personal life, but I wasn't her biggest fan on The City.  But really, have you seen the girl's outfits?  The rest is just minor details.

So imagine my excitement when I was searching for an Hermes tray, my latest home decor obsession, and what do I see on page 2 of my Google search?  Olivia's apartment!  It's gorgeous!  So here it is, my quest for an Hermes tray that will not cost me a fortune (anyone have any ideas? am I living in dreamland right now?) and my love for OP and her stunning home.

What do you all think?
Love Olivia's style?  Not so much?  What about her apartment?
You're loving the Hermes tray though, right?  Right?!

The art deco chair was a housewarming present from her aunt.

it's a party! {fall entertaining}

I love entertaining & I love fall
I don't have the space here to throw a big party, but I'm already planning
events in my head/blog for when I return to Chicago!

If I was there now, this is the party you'd all be invited to:

{dream home} a little dash of leopard

As my obsession with home style continues, I've been gravitating towards decorating with leopard.  There's just something about it.  I've always loved the pattern, but have been hesistant to use it in design for fear of it looking cheap or tacky.  As these inspiration photos show, done right leopard looks lush and luxurious.

{fashion files} wintery white

I don't think there is anyone who still believes you can't
wear white after Labor Day.
But just in case you do think that...please, don't.
This is the perfect time to wear wintery white--your skin still has traces of a
summer glow and the classicly chic color pops against the warm tones of the season.
And there's something a little softer about winter white, it's not as harsh as its bright summertime sister.

My favorite accents for white: a creamy caramel, a tawny taupe, or a luscious nude.
Top it off with a dash of black or leopard.  And as a finishing touch: gold accessories.
Done and Done.

How do you plan to wear white this fall and winter?

{gift guide} cup of joe

As modern day women, we pretty much have it all.  That's fantastic except when it comes to  gift giving for all my stylish friends, things get a bit difficult.  In my quest to find unique and beautiful gifts, I put together a gift guide associated with the one thing we all pretty much do everyday:  drink coffee.

I used to only be a social coffee drinker, if I was out shopping with friends we'd stop for a coffee or meet up for a Saturday afternoon cappuccino and chat.  Lately coffee has become so engrained in my morning routine that I can't function without it.  Needless to say, I'm addicted.  As my love and taste for coffee has grown, I've also become a bit more selective about my coffee maker, mug and accoutrements so I was pleased to find these luxurious gifts for my cup of joe!

What's your coffee style:  gourmet or functional?

{stylish spaces} who what wear offices

Oh my goodness, have you all seen the behind the scenes tour of Who What Wear fashion offices over at The Coveteur?   Talk about style inspiration, these photos are stunning.

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>Welcome to Who What Wear! This is the front desk at reception—a.k.a. the first thing you see when you arrive at WWW headquarters!—we must have tried ninety different version of the logo before we got it right.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'></span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>The view from Hillary's desk. On the left is her ipad, which she carries in a Dodocase (it looks like a moleskin notebook) and a Smythson notepad that says Keep Calm And Carry On on the front (a gift from Teen Vogue's Danielle Nussbaum). The chair is vintage and was recovered in black-and-white tweed for a Chanel-inspired look.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'></span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>While Hillary keeps most polishes filed in clear boxes in the beauty cabinet, some are too pretty to hide away and are now part of the décor.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'></span>
<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>Hillary's go-to day bag—Mulberry's Small Bayswater Satchel—sitting calmly in the reception area. The table is one of Katherine's vintage/flea market finds; we painted the base gold! </span><span class='fancyPhotoName'>Bag, Mulberry</span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>Katherine has a secret source that she uses for buying vintage fashion advertisements and the Chanel print is one of her finds. (She loves giving them as gifts to fashionable friends.) The globe is also vintage, from the Rose Bowl flea market.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'></span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>A few of Katherine's favorite things, including: a Cartier briefcase, Hermès notebook, Céline sunglasses (a birthday present from Hillary!) and a vintage sterling silver cuff, from jewelry designer and curator Hilary Tisch. </span><span class='fancyPhotoName'>Sunglasses, Céline; Notebook, Hermès; Breifcase, Cartier; Cuff, Vintage from Hillary Tisch</span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>The candle is from Creative Director Katherine Power, she bought it for Hillary at Anthropologie a few years ago. The books are beautiful, beloved, and often used for inspiration.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'></span>

{street style} rome, italy

Oh, Roma...the capital city of Italy & home to beautiful buildings, rich history, luscious cappuccinos and stunningly gorgeous people.  Italians are always dressed impeccably well whether taking a stroll, grabbing a gelato or dropping their kids off at school.  They are always stylish.  Last Winter,  I went with my girlfriends and my mom for a whirlwind long weekend in Rome.   What a dreamy city!  (One of the many perks to living on this side of the world is the quick & easy access to Europe!)

As I was looking through old photos this weekend, I found a few paparazzi-style pictures I had taken during the trip.  At the time I didn't have this blog, but I wanted to chronicle the style of the Romans in hopes of one day sharing it.

So, here we go...my shots of the glamorous people of Rome (and a few shots of the city.)

{the men}

{mother in mink:  this woman had an adorable daughter, they were just hanging out on the steps by the Vatican}

Happy Monday lovelies!
Tell me, what other cities do you simply love?
Which ones have the best style?

{wear that room} coral & zebra

Every aspect of the design world is connected...home decor, jewelry, clothes, shoes.  So I thought it would be fun to translate home design into fashion.  Love this color combination of calming coral, chic black, and cool white.  Here's the inspiration room and if I were to wear it, here's how it would look:

Where else do you find style inspiration?
Please do share!

And, be sure to join me for Fashion Friday over at Blonde Episodes!

Hope you have a lovely weekend my dears!

{dream home} beautiful bookshelves

As the year draws closer to an end, I'm getting more and more excited to move back to the US!  (The logistics of actually moving across the world do not even have a place in my mind at the moment...)  Seriously, it's getting difficult to contain my excitement!  Although my time here in the Middle East has been beyond amazing, I simply cannot wait to live in America again!    I miss my family, the modern day conveniences, and my adorable little condo in Chicago.  I've been dreaming and planning and obsessing over how I'm going to decorate it once I return.  I sold all my furniture and my style has changed quite a bit over the past 2 years, so I'm really looking forward to starting fresh.  The latest design element I've been researching is bookshelves.  I love their practicality for holding books but also for displaying lovely little things.

Here are some of my favorite looks:

And a few tips I've gathered along the way for arranging the shelves:

Consider your space.
A book shelf in your office is going to serve a much different function that one in your living room.  The items you place on the shelves should be pratical as well as beautiful.

Color coordinate.
Group similiar books together by color.  And, please don't judge a book by it's cover.  Check underneath ugly book jackets, you might find a lovely surprise! Your favorite magazines could make a beautiful display as well. Use books as a pop of color in an otherwise monochromatic look, or switch it up.

Mix it up.
Mix up the location of the books on the shelves, some might have symmetry while others mix up horizontal or vertical stacks, some might be on the left others in the center.  Play around with the arrangement and placement until it's visually interesting and balanced.

Layer for depth.
The point is to have a variety of height and thickness so put shorter pieces in front of taller ones.  It's ok if you cover up some items in the back just try to keep a center focal point.  Be mindful of not covering up too much of photographs or art pieces, but play around with it.

Stand alone pieces.
Use the large stand alone pieces to fill in open spots and break up the books.
Great options for this include:  flowers in a vase, small statues, potted plants, vases, framed art

Small trinkets.
Collect small trinkets to place on top of stacked books or to use as book ends.
Some fun options include:  mirrors, candles, picture frames, candlesticks, coral & shells, intricate boxes, metallic bowls, jewelry boxes, and lamps.
