Okay, well I haven't actually made any of these yet.  But I got really excited looking through the pins on my must make board!  The holiday season always puts me in an extra crafty mood.  Can't wait to get back to America and start on these projects!

{fashion files} the blazer

In my previous life, I worked in Corporate America so my daily uniform consisted of a suit.  I tried to push the style boundaries a bit, but there's only so far you can go in a law firm when you're working with the big guys.  So you can imagine I was a little hesitant to get behind the blazer trend.  Wear it in the office and out to play? No thank you.  BUT, let me tell you...I've converted.  It pulls together an outfit so effortlessly.  And I've recently purchased a boyfriend blazer...fabulous and comfortable.  Here's a little style inspiration courtesy of Pinterest

Are you wearing blazers outside the office?
Which brands have the best fit?

Happy Tuesday lovies,

I miss all the antics associated with Black Friday shopping: getting up early, standing in line, old ladies fighting.

The only thing I (finally) ordered over the weekend is my monogram necklace from Max & Chloe.  love it!

My wishlist for online shopping today is pretty simple, only three things:

{guest post} Vail Chic

Hello dears!  I'm excited to introduce my very first guest blogger, Marion from Marionberry Style.  This time of year always makes me wish I was in the mountains, curled up by the fireplace.  Can't think of a better way to spend Thanksgiving weekend!  So I'm thrilled that Marion is here today sharing about her home state of Colorado and some gorgeous Vail couture.

Welcome Marion!
****

Hi everyone!
My name is Marion and I publish a very new blog called Marionberry Style.  Mae is one of my favorite style bloggers, thus I was super excited when she asked me to produce an article for her blog!

I live in Colorado.  Denver to be exact.  About an hour away is an incredible, magical place called Vail.  And to be honest...I am obsessed with this place.  I love the fact that you walk the cobblestone streets and within 2 minutes you've heard 10 different languages.  I love seeing beautiful women (usually with their much much older husbands!) sport the latest in boots, fur, bags, you name it.

Oh sure...you could get away with the ski boots, wool hat and the North Face coat since it is first and foremost a ski town.  But when the lifts close and you and your girlfriends are stepping out for an evening in the village, you'll need to wear something a little more appropriate.  Something beautiful + eye catching + warm + and most of all trendy.

Here is the outfit I pulled together for a magical evening out in Vail Village:

A few notes:
  • In most ski towns, it is quite cold at night so this Vivienne Westwood coat would surely keep you cozy.  The color is the focus of the outfit.  A thin, fitted sweater is all you would need underneath (stay away from cowl necks or bulky sweaters).
  • Vail Village calls for something more than your average calf-high boot.  Thigh high boots are very trendy and make a statement.  Your older husband loves them.
  • Just like Mae, I'm loving Tory Burch accessories right now :-)

Thank you so much for reading and thank you Mae for inviting me!

XO - Marion
****
Thanks Marion!
I've got a major case of wanderlust now!
How gorgeous is that view? And that jacket!

I couldn't help but share a few images of Vail that popped up in my Pinterest feed:

Have you ever been to Vail?
What's your dream destination for Thanksgiving weekend?

Until tomorrow lovies,

vegetarian thanksgiving {and links a la mode!}

I just gotta say...there's a lot going on over here today!

You guys, I missed that I was selected for IFB's Links a la Mode on 3 November! (This not having a laptop thing is really messing with me! I'm totally out of the loop.)  Such an honor!  Thanks, IFB!  I'm really sorry I didn't get a chance to publish the whole list, so I'm trying to get the code so I can make up for it.  Stay tuned.

And, I really wanted to share some vegetarian Thanksgiving recipes with you all too just in case you need some last minute ideas!

Some of you may have seen my tweets about going vegan.
(I shouldn't make such bold claims because I'm still occasionally eating fish, but hey I'm trying!)

So far, it's been easy enough but what's a girl to do for Thanksgiving?!

I started doing some research,
there's a lot of options for a vegetarian Thanksgiving feast!

The full recipes for all these dishes are over at the NY Times
I realize they're not fully vegan, but baby steps right?

And even if you're not vegetarian, these would still make
fabulous side dishes for the star of your show, the turkey.

I'll be celebrating on Saturday and luckily
my dear friend/the hostess is vegetarian, so I know I'll be covered!

What are your favorite Thanksgiving dishes?
Any other vegetarians/vegans out there?

Hope these recipes help for all of you
doing your last minute cooking & prep!
xx

Also, come visit me at the lovely Viviana's blog, Fashion Truffles, today!
I'm sharing some party dresses & fabulous hostess gift ideas

a menagerie of love, thanks & happiness

Happy Monday dears & welcome to today's big love fest.  It's Thanksgiving week...just the thought puts a smile on my face.   Today, I'm taking the chance to share all the things I'm thankful for, most important of which is my family.  I hope you get to spend this weekend surrounded by your loved ones and lots of laughter.

It's nice to stop and appreciate all the blessings in my life, especially this week but always really.  Such a wonderful reminder that even though things are a bit stressful at the moment (preparing to move across the world!)  there's still so much fun and happiness to be had all around me.  Sometimes, it's just the little things...

And finally, a quick update:  As I mentioned, I'm returning to America!  There are no words to describe how excited I am, but that also means a lot of work ahead.  Luckily, I have an amazing group of guest bloggers who will be popping in over the next month or so.  I'm so grateful to these lovely ladies for sharing their creativity here.   I know you'll love them as much as I do.  So, be on the look-out for a few guest posts here & there.  They start this week!

What's making you happy lately?
What are you grateful for this year?

Happy Thanksgiving week!
xx

{ps}:
Come visit me over at  Urban Bedou Girl
where I'm guest posting today while the gorgeous Amanne
is on my side of the world in Dubai for the holidays!
Lucky girl.
Here's a peek at what's going on over there:

falling for florals

{flower arrangement by FlowerGirl NYC}

It all started when I saw this gorgeous series of photos ... talented florists had transformed dresses from the fall collections into luxurious floral arrangements.  Lovely!  I really enjoy doing the 'wear that room' feature (where I transform a room into an outfit) so naturally I was loving dresses turned into flowers!  That got me thinking about wearing floral prints in the Fall.  Who says it's just for summertime?  As the looks below show, the key is to stick with darker, muted colors and pair the florals with chunky knits and booties.

Are you wearing floral prints this season?

see ya Monday for some more Thanksgiving fun!

hope you have a lovely weekend,
xx

{thanksgiving} nail art

I must say, I'm not the biggest fan of all the crazy nail art I've been seeing around lately.   It's a bit much.  I'm not quite sure what came over me but when I saw these nail art designs on Refinery 29, I loved them!  I'm feeling the Thanksgiving spirit, and these just fit right in!

{The full tutorials are over on Refinery 29!}

{it's much more likely that I'll try one of these designs first...}

What do you think of this nail art trend?

Will you be sporting it for Thanksgiving?
If you do,  send me a photo...I would love to see it!

One week til T-Day!

{sponsor love} the European site, Very.com

Have you all started your holiday shopping yet?  Well just in time, I'm so excited to introduce you to the European site, Very.com, which is launching in the US!  You all know by now (I hope!)  that I will never feature any brands here unless I love them, no exceptions.  I was really excited when their team approached me because I'm really loving this site!  They offer over 400 brands, including designer pieces and the best of British style, but the best part:  most of their items are so affordable!  They've also partnered with celebrity ambassadors such as Whitney Port from The Hills and The City fame.  We all know how stylish she is!  And, they'll be launching a street style blog featuring what's hot on the streets of London.

These are some of my favorite pieces from the site:

They feature tips for getting celeb style too:

The site is still being tweaked but you can shop now! Yay!
Very.com is offering Lili & Mae readers a special VIP discount of 20%
to use on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
Sign up in the box below to receive the code.

Another Thanksgiving post coming your way tomorrow!

Happy Wednesday my dears,
xx

{ps}:
Who knew Pippa Middleton is called P. Middy?
Brilliant.

{currently coveting} emerald green

A few weeks ago, I got an email from my dear friend announcing
her wedding on St. Patricks Day 2012 in Chicago.
Can't think of a better city to celebrate...the whole river is dyed green!
And, jewel tones are one of my favorite fall trends
So needless to say, I've had green on the mind.

But, I'm having trouble finding pieces for my wardrobe
in this gorgeous color.
A cardigan, a pencil skirt, a belt...something, anything!
So as per usual, I've resorted to online shopping.

Bow Blouse / J. Crew Loafers / Elva Fields Necklace / Uggs
TopShop Maxi Skirt / ASOS Chiffon Dress

Here's a little more inspiration

Do you all own any pieces in this fabulously rich tone?
How are you wearing green for Fall?

enjoy your day,
xx
