Fall Fashion Essentials {Part One}

In case you haven't heard me say it a million times before, Fall is my favorite time of year! And it's on the way! I couldn't be more grateful because I am seriously miserable in this heat. The best part (besides the obvious crisp nights, hot apple cider, pumpkins and crunching leaves) is Fall fashion! Cool tones that add a richness to any skin tone and thicker fabrics that hide a multitude of sins...dressing for cooler temperatures is way easier (and more flattering) than a skimpy summer wardrobe. Plus, the inevitable layering of pieces can actually make one appear more slender if done correctly. This is the first in a two part series covering my top 10 fashion picks for Fall 2012, including inspiration photos and some practical pieces I rounded up from around the Internet. Let's get started!

Start off Fall with a fun pattern! I'm the first to admit that I used to feel a bit childish, but as these inspiration photos show, these two patterns are classic, chic and timeless. Feeling bold? Mix them together for a perfect pattern pairing.

Besides obviously keeping you warm, this is an accessory essential for Fall. Brightens up any outfit and adds an extra touch to even a simple white t-shirt. Tie it any way you like, just make sure you've got one!
{My picks}  this scarf + this scarf + this scarf

I was a bit hesitant when I saw this silouhette popping up in magazines and on the runway. But, let me assure you peplum is flattering on almost anyone because it comes in at your narrowest part, the waist, and flows away from the body hiding areas you'd rather not anyone see. Peplum is perfect.

If you're like me and tend to shy away from color in the Fall and Winter months, do yourself a favor and invest in a colorful blazer. You'll be surprised at how much it lifts your mood on those gloomy days, brings light to your face and gives you an hour-glass shape due to its structure.
{My picks} pink blazer + yellow blazer

Play up your pearls by picking more non-traditional pieces. Layer longer pearl necklaces with shorts gold chains or brightly colored baubles. They dress up a t-shirt or an evening gown and truly are a must-have for every fashionista's closet.

GREAT post! I love all of your picks (except for peplum - for some reason I just haven't fallen in love with it yet). I was just lamenting the end of summer, but you reminded me of everything I love about fall. What perfect timing.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog; it's so nice to meet you!

Thanks for visiting my blog!

A blazer in a fun color has been on my list for so long! I've been looking for pink, but here the peachy one definitely caught my eye. Might be a fun transitional color for fall, too.
