Paired with navy or black, or even monochromatic...it's perfect.
I think it works with every skin tone, you just have to find the right shade.

Are you wearing yellow this season?

beautiful, colorful, lovely Indian wedding

How gorgeous is this bride?!
How incredible was this wedding?!

I was so blessed to spend almost a week surrounded by
so much love and all of my favorite people in the Second City, my second home.
Such a lucky girl
The bride & groom have hearts made of gold and it was my honor
to be a part of their 4 day, 5 event wedding!

{guest post} pretty pleats

Happy Monday lovelies!
A little fun happening today, my girl Brynn and I swapped blogs! :)
She is so incredibly talented, I'm so thrilled she's here with you all
And be sure to stop by Brynn's blog chartreuse & a twist where I'm sharing a wear that room feature!

Welcome Brynn!

Hello, friends of Mae!!!
I am Brynn of chartreuse & a twist and I am so excited
to be Mae's guest today!
Mae & I found each other's blogs more recently
& I have to say to I have fallen for this girl quite quickly!
Mae is such an inspiration to me...I am just so excited for the launch of her jewelry boutique!
So, when she asked me to be her guest...I hopped on it :)
I had free reign to post about anything I fancied...
so let's talk pleated skirts!
Whether they are considered "in" or "out", they remain a classic in my book!
A pleated skirt {to me} is feminine and chic & has so much versatility {can be dressed up or down}
...makes me think very much of parisian style.

{lookbook} stripes // denim // fur

This outfit was really just a  hodge podge of my favorite things.
I wanted to wear everything so I piled it all on!
I think it worked, no?

Even though it's officially Spring, it's still a bit on the cool side over here
I wore this last week before my big trip to Chicago! (pictures are coming next week, I promise...)
I felt a bit country with the tied up denim shirt, but it was kinda fun too!
I'm keeping with the spirit of showing my everyday outfits, I like this much better!

hope you have a fabulous day!

A giveaway coming up tomorrow!
You won't want to miss this!

aren't you glad to see I still have my ridiculous pursed lip poses?
oh my...

{guest posts} Taylor's outfits

I'm just getting settled back from Chicago, so the lovely Taylor is filling in for me today
She is a gem, you must check out her blog. Her weekly Coffee Talk series is one of my favorites. That girl is funny! And not to mention she's beautiful!

Welcome Taylor!

Hi Everyone :) I'm Taylor from It's The Little Things.  I was so excited when Mae asked me guest post for her! She has become one of my favorite bloggers and "blog friends", and it never fails to amaze me how she can juggle everything she does while looking so perfectly put together!!  She even convinced me to get on Polyvore, so this is my first attempt!   Today I have 2 outfits that I put together, one with all items under $100.
Fashion Finds: Under $100
The white peplum dress is the perfect canvas for gold accents.
And you can easily swap the shoes for flip flops or heels depending on the occasion.
Next up, the perfect outfit for a casual weekend!

I can't get enough of the colored denim trend, and I love the mix of a buttery leather jacket and a tiny bit of animal print!
Thanks again Mae for having me :)

{guest post} Sweet Potato Tacos

Happy Monday my dears!
I'm en route back from Chicago (updates & pics to come...the wedding was incredible. Such a blessing to spend time surrounded by my favorite people & so much love!)

I am very happy to welcome a special guest today, Jenn.
She is an inspiration to me with her focus on healthy foods. Many of you know, I've been vegetarian for almost 6 months now & I try my hardest to be vegan and gluten free as well.
Jenn's here sharing an incredible recipe, which I have tried and LOVE.

Welcome Jenn!

Aloha Everyone!
My name is Jenn and I am the author behind Jenn's Adventureswhich is mostly a healthy living blog sprinkled with my life adventures! I'm a Maui Girl who recently relocated to Seattle due to a family medical emergency. You can read more about that (and me!) here and here. I was beyond excited when Mae asked me to guest post, and I am thrilled to chat with you all today! Mae is a woman after my own heart ~ I have a passion for both law and fashion, so I am certain we would be besties in "real life" =) I have always been a foodie, and am known for taking pictures of good eats, and since Mae follows me on Instagram she gets to see it all first hand! It usually ends up on my blog sooner or later and today I'm going to share with you one of my latest favorites!

Sweet Potato Tacos
(vegan, gluten free, soy free)
Yields 10 - 12 tacos (or more, we had lots of left overs!)

1 - 2 sweet potatoes
1 cup black beans
1 large red bell pepper (sliced)
1 medium red onion (sliced)
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon Himalayan salt
pinch of cayenne
1 avocado
1/2 lemon (juice + zest)
2 tablespoons oil of choice (I used extra virgin olive oil)
1 healthy handful cilantro

1) Boil the sweet potato until soft. Remove skin and cut into cubes OR mash/puree.
2) Soak and boil the black beans until soft.
3) Preheat oven to 375° F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, whisk the dry ingredients then add the wet ingredients to the dry ones. Throw in all your veggies and toss everything together until all is evenly coated. Cook for about 25 minutes. When there is about 10 minutes left, add in your tortillas to soften.
4) Serve immediately - Garnish with cilantro and a couple slices of avocado. I make sure to always have a bag or two of Daiya [day-ah] on hand, and if you're wondering where the sour cream is, try adding some SoDelicious plain yogurt!

What do you think!?
Would you enjoy this recipe?
I hope so!

{Friday's Fancies} luck of the Irish

It's all about St. Patrick's Day on Friday's Fancies this week!
I had such a blast creating not 1 but 3 outfits, I just couldn't decide on which dress I liked better.
They are all gorgeous!

{guest post} spring & summer uniform

Hi loves! While I'm living it up in Chicago, my friend Natalie is here with you all. Natalie has such a beautiful blog and she's sharing how to get the look of one of the most stylish girls, Olivia Palermo. Doesn't get much better than this!

Welcome Natalie!

Hello! I'm Natalie from Natalie Merrillyn and I'm thrilled to be taking over Mae's blog for the day. I wanted to share my spring and summer uniform -- basic, comfortable, and chic, and inspired by the ever-stylish Olivia Palermo.

1. sunglasses | 2. necklace | 3. tee | 4. watch | 5. shorts | 6. shoes

What is your uniform for the warmer weather?
I'd love to hear!
Thanks so much, Mae, for having me!
And be sure to stop by Natalie Merrillyn for more inspiration!

Thanks Natalie! Those leopard flats are perfect!

I'll be back tomorrow with a little Friday's Fancies fun!

It was so great to have gorgeous Miranda here yesterday and today she let me take over her blog!
I'm sharing a Wear That Room feature, please be sure to stop by and check it out!

{guest post} take it or leave it?

Hi ladies! (and my 5 male friends who read this!)
I'm off to Chicago today for my dear friend's Indian wedding! I can.not.wait.
My girl Miranda is here today. She is just a doll & sweet as can be, I'm so happy she's here with you!

take it away love

Hello all! Miranda here from One Stylish Day at a Time. I was really excited when the gracious Mae asked me to do a guest post on this blog last week. Could Mae be anymore of an inspiration? She has lived abroad, started multiple businesses, is a seriously smart lady (a lawyer!), runs this fabulous blog, and happens to be one of the sweetest and most friendly people in the blogisphere. How she does it all, I'll never know.

Anyways, all flattery complete, I'm here today to get your guy's opinions. We all know the fashion world is ridden with trends: the what's "in" and what's "out". However, there have been some bad trends out there (mall bangs anyone? How about parachute pants?) that nobody spoke up against to stop. Before we all invest in this season's trends, let's take a minute to figure out whether or not they're worth diving into. What do you think about this spring's biggest trends, take 'em or leave 'em?

Thanks for sharing pretty girl!
I'm still undecided about florals and pastels, but neon...yes please!

I can't wait to share snippets of the gorgeous wedding with you all!
hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!

until next time,

{lookbook} it's easy to be green

It's almost St. Patrick's Day!
So it was only fitting to wear my vintage green blazer yesterday
I wanted it to be the star so I chose to keep it pretty simple...white tee, boyfriend jeans,
oh and leopard wedges and a few necklaces.
You know, just the usual ;)

Are you wearing green this week and/or on Saturday?
How are you celebrating St. Patrick's Day?

have a lovely day!

loving leopard

Whether a little pop in the shoes or a full-on coat, it never gets old for me
I absolutely love leopard.
Mix it with other patterns or use it as a neutral.
Wearing it as a dress or wearing it as a scarf
I love it.

What do y'all think?
Chic or cheap?

hope it's an awesome week,

um, I can't believe I'm waiting til the post script to talk about this but
