{mullings & musings} Is blogging dead?

I may be way off here, but I'm starting to think that as Instagram and Facebook gain more and more popularity, blogging has begun its decline. What do y'all think? We're such a mobile society, always on the go. It's so much easier to interact and engage through platforms with apps. Who has time to sit and scroll/read through blogs anymore? In fact, I may take it a step further to say that even Facebook is on the way out and Instagram reigns supreme. People have full-on conversations, make new friends, exchange information and get their daily dose of pretty...all from that little app. It's definitely the first one I click on when sitting in a waiting room! Although there are advantages, blogging offers a richer experience complete with as many full size pictures and words that you want. There's only so much you can fit into that little square on Instagram. To me it just seems more instant and engaging to put up a picture on Instagram. I don't have to invest as much coming up with the content for a post, I can do several Instagrams pictures a day and the gratification is instantaneous. I love blogging, but sometimes it feels too far removed. I even have an editorial calendar, I know what I'm going to post days (sometimes weeks) in advance. I'll be honest, this might all be sparked by the fact that I've been feeling a bit burnt out with blogging lately. My life has just been so busy that I haven't had a chance to really create the content that I want and know you all deserve to see! So maybe that's why I'm loving Instagram so much, I get to create something pretty for my friends and followers and it's not so high pressure!

I'd love love to hear your opinion on this....is blogging a dead or dying art form?

I had the most exciting meeting yesterday! So happy that work is going well (although I'm a bit exhausted, but who isn't right?) Also, putting together a {mullings & musings} post for next week. Can't wait to hear what you all have to say about this one! I have a beauty consultation with a couple girls on Saturday and spending quality time with my family on Sunday. Have I mentioned how great it is to be back in the US? 

Oh, and I'm officially booked for Montreal in two weeks! Any tips for must-see places? I've heard it's absolutely gorgeous.

Neutrals for Fall

It's almost the end of July. And by extension that means it's almost the end of summer. Right?! Please say yes. I don't know how much more of the heat I can handle. So, sometimes I just sit in the AC and look at beautiful pictures of Fall outfits on Pinterest. Seriously. A girl can dream! I've found that as I get older, I'm drawn to a simpler, more neutral palette with the occasional pop of color thrown in for good measure.

I know, I know...I'm way late to the party -- but I finally got a pair of Sperrys!  I had never even tried on a pair before yesterday, but within 5 minutes of walking in the store and trying them on...they were mine! Man, they are comfortable! I had no idea. And the super (super!) cute salesgirl assured me they are not even really summer shoes. She said I could wear them well into Fall! Perfect! Well, as we all know I am so over summer and so ready for Fall to be here. So I've already been dreaming of outfits for my new kicks!

{wear that room} easy breezy

Admittedly, that's not much of a room. But oh what I wouldn't give to wear that breezy white dress and lounge in that luxurious outdoor space! Seems perfect for a weekend spent laughing with loved ones. Although I didn't spend my weekend in as quite a luxurious room, it was almost as perfect. I worked hard on Saturday and took the whole day off yesterday to spend with my favorite people on the planet. Last night, I watched a terribly sad movie. I can't even remember the name -- the one where Kate Hudson dies of colon cancer, but not before she falls in love with her handsome doctor. Has anyone else seen it? I sat on the couch with my cousin, ate cupcakes and cried. Darn those $1 Redbox rentals! ;)

{more} color inspiration

Does anyone else feel like this has been the busiest week ever? So fun and gratifying to accomplish a lot, but I'm exhausted. As I find myself working more and more, I've been trying to focus on surrounding myself with lots of creativity and inspiration. A few weeks ago, I shared some color inspiration for summer. Well I noticed I've been really drawn to these two color combos as well. Coral and mint is one thing, but orange and mint...oh yeah! And seriously does anything say fresh, yummy summer better than rose & sunshine yellow? I think not. What color are your loving at the moment? {Friday's Fancies} Nautical :: Work + Play

I'm wrapping up this 4th of July week with a nautical-inspired Friday's Fancies

I love this trend and I especially love it for this time of year. 

But I was unsure how it would translate from the office to the weekend.

{lookbook} American Chevron

Confession: I've been wearing red, white and blue all week.  I love the 4th of July!  I was so excited when I found this chevron print dress but then my mom bursted my patriotic bubble by informing me that it's a little more like orange.  Well either way, I still love it!  The dress is from a little boutique in our little town, but the necklace is from my boutique.   It's called Chloe

It's July!

And Independence Day is on Wednesday!

This is one of my favorite holidays...partly because of the fireworks and the lake 

but mostly because it's my dad's birthday and my parents' anniversary!

So just in case you haven't gotten into the spirit yet and you need some outfit inspiration
