Happy November

Can you believe it's November?
I'm sure everyone is thinking that time is flying! The season of love and thankfulness is beginning and I can't help but really count my blessings as I start this new month. Last year this time, I had just returned from Paris and was living in the Middle East dreaming of spending time with my family. Now, I'm here! So grateful. (For the record, my experience on that side of the world was the absolute best ever.)

Aren't you loving these simple inspiration images? Such classics. I plan to clean out and simplify and kick-off the last couple months of the year with gusto!

Happy November friends!

Halloween Inspiration // orange and black

Although this fabulous color combo has a special place in my heart because it represents my alma mater, I'm equally excited to be sporting it for a little Halloween fun. I thought it would be fun to share some orange and black outfit inspiration for those of you who won't be wearing a costume tonight but still want to be festive!

<my outfit from game day last week>

hope y'all have a fabulously goulish day
stay safe if you're celebrating tonight

I'm so happy that my friends & family and blogging buddies on the East Coast are safe and sound.
The coverage of Sandy has been amazing and the damage so sad. If you'd like to help through the Red Cross you can text REDCROSS to 90999. Love and prayers to you all! x

fashion files // the leather dress

Would you rock the leather dress trend?

At first look, it seemed a bit much for me.
But, I love the way the leather was softened in the top left image
with a chambray shirt, fur vest and flats. Makes it seem so everyday attainable.
And then there's Olivia. Oh, she's amazing.
I'm drawn to classic colors like brown or black, but a rich burgundy or yellow would be stunning.

For those of you daring enough to rock this look, here are some fabulous options:

fall style // navy & pink

This preppy color combination is usually associated with summer time, but as these inspiration photos show... it's perfect for this time of year too!

For me, fall is all about casual chic so my dream navy + pink fall outfit incorporates a comfy sweater and soft scarf paired with gold glitter flats. Perfect.

Do you like this preppy color combination?
Would you wear it for Fall?

here's to a lovely week,

dream home // the campaign dresser

Is there any piece of furniture more gorgeous? So bold yet elegant. I just love it. But, finding one of these beauties is proving to be very difficult. I have been scouring Craigslist, visiting antique stores....where are they?! Well, I'm running out of patience and I do love a great deal so you know what that means: D - I - Y!! I've consulted this do it myself campaign dresser tutorial + this one too!
I'll keep y'all updated!

have a fabulous weekend!

Fall DIY To-Do List

1. Ok so this isn't technically a DIY (unless you can sew!) but it is an upgrade ;) Prep up any old sweater in your closet by taking it to a local shop to add your monogram. My bet is you can add this lovely little detail for about $10.

2. I can't think of anything more glamorous and cozy than glitter pumpkin candleholders. Check out this fabulous tutorial.

3. Captoe booties, heels, flats....doesn't matter the style I love this look! It's so easy to recreate, just tape off the toe of your favorite shoes, cover the rest in a trash bag secured with tape, and spray away!

What projects are on your Fall to-do list?

fall essential // the chunky sweater

I feel like my fall wardrobe is pretty well taken care of, just one item left: the chunky sweater. Cozy, comfy, and oversized to wear with leggings. So perfect. Imagine wearing it to get a pumpkin spice latte or to go apple picking. Love.
I think it's a must in either camel or ivory.

Which color would you choose?

shop my favorite chunky sweaters:

style inspired // monochromatic

If done well, monochromatic is sophisticated and chic. I think varying the tones, creating depth with texture, and adding a pop with an accent color are the keys to keeping it classy.

Here's my dream monochromatic outfit based on neutral navy,
including soft velvet and pops of brown and gold.

have a blessed Fall weekend my dears!
gosh, I love this time of year

budget friendly options to shop my monochromatic outfit:

fashion files // the leopard coat

I must have one for Fall. Must.
Do you own a leopard coat or trench?
You know it is the new neutral! ;)
