2018 Reflection + 2019 New Year Prep

Happy almost 2019! It’s the final day of the year and many of us are setting intentions and preparing for 2019. I’ve said this many times before but you don’t have to be bound by arbitrary timelines. For many, the new year is a convenient time to begin fresh and set new goals, but I have to say: if you’re not quite ready that is totally fine! You can start new on January 3 or February 19 😉

I feel very ready to make changes and this feels like a natural time to make some transitions so I’m using the new year as a marker to start with a clean slate. Here are the strategies I’m using to reflect on 2018 and prepare for 2019.

GRATITUDE

For some this year was wonderful, for others this was a year of difficulty and growth. 2018 meant a lot of different things to everyone, but no matter what it was to you, let’s all take a deep breath and bless and release. Let’s be grateful for the lessons. Grateful for whatever we gained and whatever we lost. Grateful for the ways we were challenged, the ways we grew and the ways we were able to serve. Let’s say goodbye to 2018 in a state of gratitude and excitement for what’s to come.

REFLECT

I’m going to take stock of 2018 and reflect on all that I have accomplished. I encourage you to make a list of things you’ve done and be proud of yourself. Notice what went right and what were the opportunities for you to learn. Acknowledge the things that you will not tolerate. What do you want to invite more of into your life? Identify what no longer serves you and let it go. Ask yourself a very important question: what do I want this year? And then: what can I do to serve not only myself but my community?

More questions for reflection: What is next? What do you feel called to do? How do I want to feel this year? Who do I want to help this year?

MINDSET

For 2019, I am focusing 2000% on mindset. I’ve always believed that our thoughts create our reality. And I have always tried to be positive. But this year I am committing big time. I’m going all in with mindset and manifestation. I expect the best. I’m raising my vibration and energetic standards. I am determined to go with the flow and leave room for magic. Wow me, 2019. Give me all you got! EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. If you were given a desire then it’s possible. And quite frankly, it’s already yours. Trust yourself, you know the way.

JOURNAL / VISION BOARD

You can’t achieve big goals if you don’t even know what you’re working on. Clarity is a key component in goal-setting, organization, success and manifestation. You need a clear picture of what exactly you want. Writing in a journal is a fantastic tool, I’ve always said there’s a true power in putting pen to paper. There are many wonderful journal prompts to help gain clarity. Another aspect is visual, that’s why I love making vision boards. Check out this YouTube video on how to DIY a vision board! It’s such a fun, relaxing and rewarding exercise!
