MaeBad’s Guide To OKC | What To Do In Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City might not seem like the coolest place to travel, but this hidden little gem in Tornado Alley, was recently named one of Money’s Top Travel Destinations! I loved growing up in Oklahoma but the past few years have brought an influx of trendy restaurants, beautiful coffee shops and fun local establishments. I’m so excited to bring you this guide to some of the amazing new places I discovered in OKC. I hope you get a chance to visit!

HunnyBunny Biscuit Co

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the adorable peachy pink decor and family vibe. We loved every single thing we ate! We tried the Croque Madame with ham and gruyere, the Basic Chick (with the best fried chicken I’ve ever had!) and the Biscuit French Toast (OMG – it was everything you would hope for and more!)

We topped off the meal with Kombucha brewed fresh in OKC and the most delicious honey latte that I’ve been trying to recreate ever since!

Jones Assembly

You can check The Jones for a business lunch or for a show! I mean how cool is that. You walk into a beautiful open space with a stage at the very back but don’t forget to look left at the stunning outdoor patio and garden space. Even the bathrooms are cool with woodsy-scented candles in amber jars and yellow flowers.

For an appetizer, I cannot recommend the Burrata enough. It came with fresh seasonal fruit (we got blood oranges!!) a fennel vinaigrette, honey tuile, and microgreens all on Sourdough baked in house. It was heavenly. Also, the Avocado Toast is incredible. What more can I say.

We ate the Parma Pizza with prosciutto and arugula and the dough was made in-house and baked in their own stone oven! We also had the BB salad with grilled chicken and avocado (what more do you really need) and the Roast Pork Sandwich — incredible! The Jones just started serving a new lunch menu so I highly recommend a fun girls lunch or even having a business meeting there. They have a beautiful, wide open space that is perfect for any occasion.

We wrapped up the meal with the most amazing dessert — flourless chocolate cake. Of course it tasted delicious, but just look at that presentation! I highly recommend Jones Assembly for the ambiance and the food. And I love that they have live shows too!

The Plant Shoppe + Okay Yeah Co. Coffee

No guide to any city would be complete without mentioning a fantastic plant store and local coffee shop, right?! The Plant Shoppe has the most amazing vibe, party cozy, party earthy — it’s just awesome. There are lights and a camper and all the plants you could ever want. The staff is so friendly and totally gave me tons of tips for my fiddle leaf fig. They even said I could DM them a picture through Instagram and they’d give me more advice. #plantladyprobz

As if plants weren’t dreamy enough, there’s a coffee shop in there too!! Bless. They served the most delicious coffee and pastries and there are plenty of picnic tables for you to grab a seat and make a new friend or get some work done among all the foliage.

Please note: I recently noticed that Okay Yeah Co is rebranding (how sad! I loved that name!) as Stitch and moving out of The Plant Shoppe. Keep an eye on their Insta for updates!

xx
